# Deploy or connect with Modelence

Modelence Cloud runs Node.js apps in production. A local environment connects a project running on the user's machine to Modelence, so it gets the environment's resources and settings and shows up in the dashboard. The full, current instructions live in the Modelence docs, so fetch the page for your case below and follow it exactly rather than working from memory.

Decide which case applies before doing anything else:

- **The user wants to deploy a project that already has an app.** Fetch https://docs.modelence.com/deploy/setup.md and follow its steps in order. It explains what Modelence Cloud runs, how to write `modelence.config.json`, how to verify the setup locally, and when a project is not compatible.
- **The user wants to connect the project to a local environment.** Fetch https://docs.modelence.com/setup.md and follow its steps in order.
- **There is no app yet and the user wants a new one.** Fetch https://docs.modelence.com/quickstart.md and follow it to create an app on the open-source Modelence framework, then deploy it as that page describes.

The documentation index is at https://docs.modelence.com/llms.txt. Look up anything you are unsure about there. Report the result of each step to the user, and stop to ask them whenever a step needs their account or their decision.
